Jasmine Dragon Ball | Elegant Floral Fragrance Crafted Through Intangible Cultural Heritage Techniques

A Legendary Cup of Tea: The Story of Our Jasmine Dragon Pearl Green Tea

Discover the origin of true jasmine tea. From the misty hills of Fuzhou, China—a region celebrated as the birthplace of this fragrant brew and a place where the traditional scenting art is honoured as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The secret to an exceptional cup lies in a perfect union: the finest Fujian green tea leaves and the sublime fragrance of sun-drenched Fuzhou jasmine blossoms. Nurtured by a unique microclimate at 25.5° north latitude, with perfect sunshine, pure waters, and temperate air, these flowers develop an incomparable aroma.

MoriMa Tea is proud to present our signature Jasmine Tea: the Fuzhou Jasmine Dragon Pearl Green Tea. This masterpiece is meticulously crafted by Master Artisan Chen Guangfu, a guardian of this非遗 (intangible cultural heritage) tradition. He skilfully blends this spring’s harvest of Fuding green tea with fresh, locally picked jasmine, creating a taste that is uniquely sweet, fresh, and complex.

Picked at the Peak of Perfection

A jasmine flower’s beauty is fleeting—it blooms for just one day. To capture its essence at its most vibrant, our field hands carefully gather the unopened buds by day. These precious blossoms are rushed to our tea master’s workshop by evening, where they are tended with expert care. We patiently wait for the exact moment the flowers burst open, releasing their signature scent, ensuring that only the freshest, most fragrant jasmine infuses our tea.

The Art of Seven Scentings: A Test of Patience

The magic happens through an age-old process called scenting. This intricate dance uses the tea leaves' natural absorbency and the jasmine flowers’ heady perfume to create a symphony of flavour—where "the tea captures the flower’s scent, profoundly enhancing its own character."

This is no simple task. Each scenting cycle is a labour of love: the tea and blossoms are layered and mixed, carefully aerated to control temperature, then separated before the tea is gently dried. Our Jasmine Dragon Pearl Green Tea undergoes this gruelling process not once, but seven times. Each cycle takes a full 24 hours, followed by a 48-hour rest for the tea to absorb the flavours fully. The result? A deeply aromatic tea where the sweet floral notes are infused into every single leaf.

A Sensory Experience: Form, Fragrance & Flavour

Elegant Form: Hand-rolled into tight, luminous pearls, this tea is as beautiful as it is functional. This clever shape locks in the precious aroma and unfurls gracefully with each steep.

Heavenly Scent: Simply opening the pouch releases an intoxicating aroma of sweet jasmine and cool, honeyed notes.

Golden Liquor: It brews a bright, sunny yellow liquor that is clear and inviting.

Complex Taste: The first steeps are bold and floral, with a pronounced sweetness. By the fourth and fifth infusions, the flavour evolves into a smooth, honey-like sweetness with a delicate, refreshing finish. The enchanting fragrance lingers long after your last sip, leaving a wonderfully sweet aftertaste that is both calming and uplifting.

How to Brew Your Perfect Cup

Unlock the full potential of your pearls with these simple steps:

Teaware: A porcelain Gaiwan (110 ml) is ideal.

Tea: Use approx. 5g of MoriMa Tea’s Jasmine Dragon Pearls.

Water: Always use filtered or spring water for the clearest taste.

Temperature: 100°C (full rolling boil).

Method: Rinse the pearls briefly with hot water and then discard that water. For the first infusion, pour water directly over the pearls and steep for 30 seconds to allow them to begin unfurling. This infusion is particularly flavourful. For subsequent steeps, simply add time as needed to suit your taste. These pearls offer multiple delicious infusions.
